VELUX
roof windows are tested according to the most stringent demands
to energy efficiency. This applies for instance to low-energy glazing
with a low U-value, which means that a minimum of heat will be transmitted
to the outside through the insulating glass unit. And a high g-value,
which means that a large amount of the sun energy will be transmitted
to the room. Moreover, VELUX roof windows have been designed to
minimise the risk of cold bridges.
Insulating
glass
The insulating glass unit has great influence on the window's energy
efficiency performance. VELUX offers a wide range of insulating
glass units designed to meet the individual end-user's requirements,
whether the purpose is to save energy or to keep the sunheat out.
If the climate is hot, homeowners need insulating glass units that
transmit a minimum amount of sunheat into the room. So the optimum
insulating glass unit depends on the climate in the country where
the window is installed.
A common feature of all insulating glass units is that they combine
the latest break-through in technological development - the so-called
warm edge technology that minimises condensation on the inside of
the pane.

Energy Ratings
The Window Energy Rating Scheme's (WERS) scientific tests provide
5 stars being the maximum achievable.
VELUX skylights have all received the maximum 5 stars on the WERS
Summer rating.
VELUX skylights and roof windows are also a positive inclusion in
energy building programs run by State Governments such as:

- FirstRate in VIC

Building Code
Compliance
All VELUX skylights/roof windows (except sun tunnels) are deemed
non-combustible and thereby comply with BCA Fire Seperation requirements
(i.e. suitable for use within 900mm from allotment boundary/seperation
wall)*.
*CSIRO assessment report (FCO-2046) avaialable on
request. VELUX recommends consultation with relevant authority before
work commences. For bush fire areas refer to seperate Bush Fire
